Benchmark Litigation Recognizes Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna as a Tier 1 Firm for Fifth Consecutive Year

November 6, 2026·News·2 minute read

Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna LLP has been ranked as a national Tier 1 firm for Insurance by Benchmark Litigation for the fifth consecutive year, reflecting the firm’s leadership and success representing policyholders in their most complex and high-stakes insurance disputes. Additionally, six partners—including all four founding partners—earned recognition as Litigation Stars and National Practice Area Stars, while chair Robin Cohen was once again named among Benchmark’s Top 100 Trial Lawyers.

In its profile on the firm, Benchmark notes that Cohen Ziffer “continues to set the standard in complex policyholder-side insurance litigation.” Client feedback “consistently point[s] to the firm’s strategic mindset as a defining strength,” with one client commenting that the team “know[s] their clients AND their adversaries and develop[s] highly effective strategies that protect their clients while also going on the offensive.”

Over the past year, the firm has continued to win precedent-setting decisions for policyholders. In October 2026, Cohen Ziffer, alongside co-counsel at Quattlebaum Grooms & Tull PLLC, secured a unanimous appellate win for Walmart, with the Arkansas Court of Appeals affirming that Walmart’s insurers must defend the company in the nationwide opioid litigation. The decision is a significant win for policyholders seeking coverage for opioid-related liabilities and for claims arising from government lawsuits more broadly.

Earlier in the year, Cohen Ziffer secured a Delaware Supreme Court ruling affirming that Harman International Industries’ D&O insurers could not rely on a “bump-up” exclusion to deny coverage for a $28 million settlement of a shareholder class action arising from Harman’s merger with Samsung. Deciding a matter of first impression, the court provided important guidance on the scope of bump-up exclusions, and the ruling is expected to have broad implications for D&O coverage in M&A litigation.

Since its founding in 2021, Cohen Ziffer has recovered more than $10 billion for policyholders and represented more than 100 Fortune 500 companies in high-stakes insurance coverage disputes. The firm’s attorneys are recognized as first-rate trial lawyers who have successfully resolved a host of complex commercial insurance disputes on behalf of organizations and individuals across the country. The below attorneys are ranked in Benchmark Litigation’s 2027 guide and the firm’s complete rankings can be found here.
