Since the firm’s launch in January 2021, Cohen Ziffer has secured multiple groundbreaking rulings on behalf of policyholders, including a $400 million award for New Jersey Transit Corporation over damage sustained in Superstorm Sandy, and a $120 million judgment for Verizon Communications for defense and settlement costs incurred in connection with a bankruptcy trustee’s claims alleging fraudulent conveyances. Cohen Ziffer also recently prevailed against insurers’ efforts to avoid coverage for underlying shareholder litigation under a so-called “bump-up exclusion”—a common provision in D&O policies—that has national implications for policyholders across the country.
