Insurance recovery boutique Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna LLP has gone from 12 attorneys to 30 since opening in January 2021, and plans to hire an additional 10 lawyers in the near future.
To accommodate its growth, the New York City-based firm is expected to move into a new home currently under construction in midtown Manhattan on Monday, after signing an 11-and-a-half-year lease at 1325 Avenue of the Americas for the entire 31st floor.
“Our practice is really expanding, so we realized pretty quickly that we needed a much larger space,” firm chair Robin Cohen told Law360 Pulse. “We first looked to see if we could sublet for five to seven years, but the more we looked, the more we realized that we really wanted to create our own space, like we created our own firm, and we wanted it to be very kind of modern, cool, hip — in our style. After looking at a couple of sublets, we realized that even the nicer ones weren’t completely us and our personality, and so we decided to enter into this lease.”
It was important to Cohen — who said she loves the energy of Sixth Avenue — to stay in the same neighborhood. The previous, 13,000-square foot office was at 55th and 6th Avenue, while the new, 25,000-square foot office is at 53rd and 6th, she said.
The new location is a more efficient space, with double the offices and great restaurants nearby, Cohen said.
