New York—May 10, 2021—Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna LLP partner Meredith Elkins has been named to Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 2021 Women Worth Watching list. The annual award celebrates women across the globe for their achievements inside and outside of the workplace.
Meredith litigates high-stakes insurance matters in federal and state courts across the country, frequently appearing before courts in New York, Texas, and Delaware. Representing policyholders only, she fights for Fortune 500 companies and other clients in their attempts to recover large losses from insurance carriers. Since teaming up with the firm’s group of leading insurance recovery lawyers early in her career, Meredith has earned, among several other victories, a groundbreaking decision redefining the scope of conduct eligible for insurance protection.
Following Cohen Ziffer’s launch in January 2021, Meredith has continued to secure impressive results for her clients, including a $24 million win for Verizon in litigation clarifying what qualifies as a “securities claim” under directors & officers insurance policies that commonly protect senior executives—a previously unresolved question of insurance law.
Outside of her legal practice, Meredith serves as hiring partner of Cohen Ziffer, which launched with 12 lawyers and has already nearly doubled in size. She is also passionate about diversity and inclusion efforts, and sat on the diversity committee of her former firm, attends the LGBT Bar’s Lavender Law conference annually, and has undertaken extensive additional training and networking centered on diversity issues.
Meredith will be featured in Profiles in Diversity Journal’s summer issue.
