My Approach

I’m drawn to cases that present novel questions, particularly where legal strategy converges with business practicalities. While I enjoy the challenge of finding creative solutions, I also believe that strong case management, clear communication and efficient strategies are essential to achieving the best results for clients. I want clients to feel confident that their matters are being managed thoughtfully and exceptionally well.

Overview

Kathleen Stanaro represents policyholders and other clients in complex insurance disputes, bringing substantial experience in high-stakes litigation and arbitration to her practice. Before joining Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna, she represented clients as a litigator at a large, international, New York-based law firm, where she served as lead associate on matters in state and federal courts involving billions of dollars in alleged damages. Her experience spans a broad range of industries and legal issues, including arbitrations, class actions, product liability, contract disputes, intellectual property, bankruptcy and internal investigations.

Kathleen enjoys tackling novel legal questions, particularly those arising at the intersection of business and legal strategy. She approaches each matter by quickly developing a deep understanding of the relevant facts and legal concepts, identifying potential strengths and weaknesses, and helping build a cohesive case strategy from the outset. Her experience working with businesses across industries enables her to quickly understand a client’s operations and tailor litigation strategies to its specific circumstances.

Clients and colleagues value Kathleen’s calm, thorough and practical approach. She’s particularly skilled at preparing clients and witnesses for challenging situations, helping them feel confident and well prepared. She also brings strong leadership and case management skills to her work, emphasizing responsive communication, efficient processes and consistent updates so clients understand how their matters are progressing and know that their interests are being prioritized.

A committed team player, Kathleen believes the strongest results come from collaboration rather than competition within a legal team. She frequently serves as a resource for colleagues seeking guidance or a sounding board, and enjoys taking an active role in managing litigation teams.

Earlier in her career, Kathleen also interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, where she gained an inside perspective on the justice system and the strategic considerations involved in litigation.
