My Approach

I invest my full energy in each case, utilizing all available resources to reach objectives and deliver results. My tenacious nature pushes me to explore outside-the-box solutions to achieve optimal results. I devise strategies by marshaling the facts and leveraging the best supporting case law to convince courts that coverage applies to my clients’ losses.

Overview

A dynamic and innovative litigator, Maria Brinkmann advocates for policyholders in insurance recovery matters. To best represent her clients, she quickly develops an in-depth understanding of their businesses and operations as they pertain to the issues at hand. She uses open conversations and collaborative processes to create highly tailored, refined approaches to complex matters.

Maria brings valuable legal, professional, and life experience to her practice. Prior to entering private practice, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Katharine S. Hayden of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The clerkship impressed upon Maria the importance of maintaining a strong work ethic and honing litigation skills to achieve excellence.

Years spent in a New York-based theater career not only sharpened Maria’s public speaking and advocacy capabilities, but also conditioned her to prepare meticulously and to pursue successful outcomes in spite of any obstacle. Maria’s ease in communicating and connecting with others enhances her ability to serve clients and work effectively with colleagues.

In addition to her clerkship and time as a professional Equity-member stage actor, Maria’s career includes a term as a judicial intern for the Honorable Ronald L. Ellis of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (Ret.) and legal intern positions at the Natural Resources Defense Council, Earthjustice, and the NYC Department of Health. She also served as a student attorney in the Economic Justice Project Clinic at City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law. Before law school, Maria was the director of partnerships and engagement at Edible Schoolyard NYC, an education non-profit that advocates on food justice issues.
