Litigators from midsize law firms who participated in Law.com’s “How I Made Partner” series this past year say finding the right firm and taking on a broad range of assignments can make a big difference in professional success and satisfaction.
Today we check in one more time with the newly minted litigation partners who have participated in the “How I Made It” series curated by my Law.com colleague Tasha Norman this past year. While we’ve previously mined the collective wisdom of litigation partners in the Am Law 100, Second Hundred, and litigation boutiques, today we’re digging into the dozen or so lawyers who rose the litigation ranks in midsize law firms.

Cindy Jordano made partner this year at Cohen Ziffer Frenchman & McKenna, a New York based law firm formed by McKool Smith alums in 2021. The firm lists about 30 lawyers on its website and focuses on insurance recovery, advisory and commercial litigation. She previously practiced at Kasowitz Benson Torres and McKool Smith and clerked for a federal judge.
She said she leaped at the opportunity to join Cohen Ziffer at its founding, realizing there were significant benefits to specializing and developing an expertise in insurance recovery litigation. “I fit in well with the insurance recovery group, which is fast-paced and aggressive and tries cases more often than many other types of litigation,” Jordano said. “It was also exciting to join a firm at its founding. It was incredibly fun and motivating to be at a ‘startup,’ even if it was with lawyers with whom I’d worked with before.”
